Teach Me To Forget by Erica M. Chapman

Ellerly is passed being depressed, she's ready for it all to be over. The date is planned down to the minute. In her closet sits the gun accompanied by the one bullet she will need. She has savings set aside for her mother to help with afterward, including hiring a cleaning crew to come the next morning. What she didn't plan for was the gun not working.

This isn't just some suicide story. Yes, Ellerly wants to die, and even tries it more then once. But when she's returning the broken gun, a guy from school recognizes her and her distress, tries to stop her from getting a new gun. She doesn't know him but he refuses to leave him alone I thought that this books was well written and the parts of the story I do find relatable (and I promise, it's not the suicidal parts

I honestly don't know who to recommend this book to. It's a hard book to recommend. It covers a tough topic. If you are interested in books that cover sad, tough topics like suicide and depression then you might be interested in this book.

Books this one reminded me of:
Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
To Catch A Killer Sheryl Scarborough

Miles grew up admiring her cousin Laura, always feeling like she is living in her shadow but she honestly doesn't mind. They were as close as sisters, but when Laura commits suicide Miles is alone and goes into a downward spiral filled with cigarettes and alcohol. Her friend tries to help her but she just keeps shutting everyone out. But when she realizes she has more support and isn’t as alone as she thought, she is able to rebuild her life in unexpected ways. This book is filled with characters that you'll just fall in love with!

The Museum of Intangible Things by Wendy Wunder

Hannah and Zoe are best friends, they always have had each other. Zoe thinks she was abducted by aliens and that they are calling back to her. She tells Hannah that she needs to leave New Jersey, so as Zoe's lifetime best friend Hannah gets in her car with Zoe and they leave. Zoe wants to teach Hannah about all intangible things and get her to have more in her life. Hannah just wants to help Zoe but she's run out of way to help her. I recommend this book to someone who likes road trip adventures and some slight tragedy. Zoe and Hannah's adventure is suspenseful and crazy, this is a completely exhilarating read.

Drowning is Inevitable by Shalanda Stanley

Always living in your mother's shadow is hard. Olivia's mother killed herself three days after Olivia was born. Olivia's father has a hard time being around Olivia because she looks so much like her mother, so Olivia lives with her grandmother. Olivia's grandmother calls her Lillian(Olivia's mom) and doesn't seem to remember that Olivia isn't Lillian. Olivia just wants to make it to 18 (the age her mother was when she died) and then she'll start planing her life, but everything goes wrong when Olivia's best friend Jamie does something terrible and they have to run. This book is a definite head spin where you don't ever expect what will happen next. If you enjoy suspense, books that keep you on your toes, this is a book for you. It is very BAM BAM BAM, at most spots and is very unpredictable at times.

When Reason Breaks by Cindy L. Rodriguez

Emily and Elizabeth are two different people but are feeling the same things. When in their shared english class starts learning about Emily Dickinson and reading her poems. One of them writes letters to their teacher and includes poems. She's struggling with depression and ends up trying to take her own life. This book is very mysterious and throughout the book you don't know who's writing the letters and who commits suicide until the end. It;s a classic teen tragedy suicide story. I recommend this to anyone who likes those kinds of books, books like Speak and Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson and Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. It is a really good read :)

Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson

This book is very hard to talk about, at least for me. Wintergirls is filled with a very deep topic that can be hard to talk about. It is about a girl who is struggling with anorexia and self-image. Lia's best friend, Cassie, recently died from her anorexia and it hit Lia pretty hard. Being in and out of the hospital and putting weights in her robe pockets when being weighed lead her to a hotel room in the middle of a snow storm needing help. This story is all about Lia struggling to be the weight she wants to be and her parents wanting her to be healthy. Finally, with the help of the adoration of her younger sister, she asked for help just before it was too late. This book is sad, and deep but oddly beautiful. I'd recommend this book for someone who likes these kind of big and deep concepts. It is truly a wonderful book.

I strongly recommend you read this :)

Lessons from a Dead Girl by Jo Knowles

It is very rare when I read a book and don't like it. Granted not all books I've read have knocked my socks off but I've never really read a book I haven't liked. This book is different, it was one of those books where I finished it only because I wanted it to get better and know how it ends. It is fairly well written but the story goes no where. Leah was best friends with Laine and when she committed suicide Laine couldn't help but feel responsible. Throughout this book Laine tells stories about her and Leah growing up and the events leading up to her death. The end of the book leaves you with lose ends and doesn't really have a point. I guess I recommend this to someone who just likes to read for fun and not necessarily for the story.

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

Thirteen Reasons Why is amazingly creative and well thought out.  Hannah Baker is a girl who committed suicide but before she does she makes 13 cassette tapes explaining what lead her to doing what she did, 13 "reasons".  Each chapter is split up by cassette tape side and includes Hannah's voice but also the person hearing the tapes. I absolutely love the story line of this and how the pieces all fit together. A major must read!! I recommend it to anyone who likes those sad and slightly mysterious kind of stories!

I Was Here by Gayle Forman

If you've read If I Stay you'd expect nothing less then another hauntingly sad, and touching book, which is exactly what this book is like. Meg, Cody's best friend, killed herself after going to college and throughout the book Cody tries to discover why. Cody thought her and Meg told each other everything, but Meg kept something very important from her and it adds to the mystery of figuring out why Meg killed herself. This book has sadness, confusion, and even love and adventure. I recommend this book for anyone who loves a good story that starts out sad and has a happy ending. This book is worth the read.
