Although this was written before Winter came out it isn't crucial that it is read before you read Winter. This book is all about Queen Levana, and I know she's not a very likable person, in fact until I read this book I didn't like her at all. Fairest is all about Levana and Channary, and everything that happens before Cinder even starts. You learn more about what Princess Channary was like and how Levana came to the thrown. Many people are skeptical of stories like this but if you are a true fan of The Lunar Chronicles you will enjoy this book. It truly gives an outlook on a misunderstood villain without giving away anything about Winter.Read it!!
